History of the Omero Museum and the Culture of Accessibility: Between Touch and Aesthetic Emotion

This lecture, organized by the Italian Cultural Office of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano and delivered by Dr. Annalisa Trasatti, coordinator of services at the Omero State Tactile Museum in Ancona, is part of the program of collateral events for the exhibition *“Artifices: The Creators of Art.”*

For years, the Omero Museum has been committed to promoting the theme of museum accessibility and cultural spaces, advocating an approach to art that gives dignity and value to all the senses and their potential for knowledge.

The presentation will illustrate the history of the Omero Museum alongside the evolution of the “culture of accessibility”: from a “white crow” to an internationally recognized institution representing a true Italian cultural “made in Italy.” Accessibility to cultural heritage for people with visual impairments is achieved through touch and the emotional experience of aesthetics.

Before and after the lecture, visitors will have the opportunity to admire and touch the tactile replica of the *Discobolus “Lancellotti type”*, on loan from the Omero Museum, allowing everyone to experience art beyond the visual and making the work accessible to all.

The event will be held in Italian, is free of charge, and open to the public; no registration is required.
