Guided hike to the summer pasture of the "spectacled sheep" from Villnöß - Via the upper Herrensteig to the chamois area

from center
Start: 9.30 am at Russis Kreuz. Initial steep ascent through the forest. Via the ferrata the Günther Messner (short cable-secured section), you reach the Kofelwiese meadow and continue along the upper Herrensteig on the southern slopes of the Aferer Geisler, with spectacular insights into the area’s geological history and wide panoramic views (highest point 2250 m). The descent leads to Kaserill Alm (1920 m – break) and back to Zans. End around 4:30 p.m. It is recommended to arrive by bus!
Route data: distance 11 km, ascent 780 m, descent 830 m, pure walking time 4.30 h, sure-footedness is required
A good level of fitness is required for this alpine hike!

Reservation: within the day before at the Nature Park Visitor Center Puez-Geisler or the Tourist Information Office.

    Car Park Russis Kreuz
    Getting to the starting point of the tour is easy and convenient.
    By bus from Klausen/Chiusa or Brixen/Bressanone through Villnöss/Funes valley in direction Würzjoch (bus stop Russis Kreuz). Online timetable search at www.suedtirolmobil.info/en/

    By car:
    Through the Eisack/Isarco Valley to Klausen/Chiusa; turn into Villnöss/Funes valley and drive to St. Peter. Continue from there on the road in direction to Würzjoch pass until you reach the little car park Russis Kreuz.
