Theater "Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte"

Old Ebenezer Scrooge is a true miser who considers Christmas a waste of both money and time. But on Christmas itself, he is visited by four spirits who ultimately teach him once again what he has long since lost: his humanity.

Charles Dickens’ story, first published in 1843, has become one of those cherished Christmas traditions that many people look forward to year after year. After all, in our age of individualism and self-centredness, there is still no shortage of Scrooges whom one might wish a visit from Dickens’ spirits. Director and producer Martin Mühleis has created a stage adaptation for actors Samuel Finzi and Herbert Knaup which, together with music by Libor Síma, performed live by five professional female string players, promises a very special evening during Advent.

Samuel Finzi and Herbert Knaup are two outstanding character actors, both well known from numerous film and television roles. Samuel Finzi is a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, while Herbert Knaup performs, among other venues, at the St. Pauli Theater in Hamburg. Together with the live stage music, the two actors bring the distinctive, quirky British humour of “A Christmas Carol” to life in a deeply moving way.
