Hike to Mount Roen with stunning panoramic views, alpine huts, and scenic trails through forests and high mountain meadows.
We travel by coach over the Gampen Pass down to Fondo in the Non Valley and continue up to the Mendel Pass (1,362 m), the starting point of our hike. Following forest trails and alpine meadows, we ascend to Malga Romeno (mountain hut) at 1,768 m. From there, the hike continues on a somewhat steep but well-maintained path up to the panoramic summit of Mount Roen (2,116 m). After an extended summit break, during which we enjoy our packed lunch, we descend across open alpine pastures, accompanied by magnificent views, to Malga Smarano and Sfruz (1,905 m). Traversing the slopes of Mount Roen, we return to the ascent route and descend to Malga Romeno, where we will stop briefly for refreshments. The trail then continues past the Halbweg Hut and across open grassy slopes down to the Roen Stuben (1,350 m), where the bus will be waiting for the return journey.
