La chiesa più antica di Prato allo Stelvio si trova a sud-est del villaggio, in un paesaggio di prati verdi all'ingresso della catena montuosa dell'Ortles. La Chiesa di San Giovanni fu costruita alla fine del XIII secolo dai Conti di "Tschengelsberg" come chiesa personale in stile romanico.
