Hotel description
A holiday to remember Welcome to where tradition meets modernity, a varied offer piques the senses, simplicity is interwoven with luxury, and peace and silence stir the soul. It’s as though you’re taking a step back in time to a place where values still actually mean something, objects retain that je ne sais quoi, where food is more than simple nourishment. You know you don’t have to pretend to be somebody else here: you can just be… you. Come and experience a warmth and friendliness that most of us had given up on. The Mitterstiller is a 13th century farmstead which was rescued from abandonment by a young Bolzano family. It was restored to its previous glory after 6 years of delicate restoration. The result is a veritable jewel surrounded by apple groves and forests on the Renon, in the vicinity of Bolzano, the lively capital of South Tyrol. The Mitterstiller has recently opened to guests and offers quite a unique holiday experience. The building can host up to 12 people and is a retreat for holiday-goers with a taste for simple luxury and warmth; an ideal destination for families and friends as well as a perfect venue for hosting workshops, seminars, and business meetings against a special backdrop. Every nook and cranny invokes the charm of long forgotten days; a hearty breakfast, with homemade produce, is served in the Gothich stube, while afternoon coffee is taken in the hall with its crackling chimney fire. The garden with pool offers a direct view across the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the spacious rooms are all exquisitely furnished and fitted with the most refined Italian textiles, the sweet wooden scent delighting the sense of all guests as soon as they cross the threshold. Beauty and good taste take centre stage in the kitchen, too; at the Mitterstiller all dishes are prepared using ingredients picked directly from the farm grounds or purchased from the nearby delicatessen in Bolzano All guests are special in their own way and to reflect this we’ve created tailored holiday packages for them: mountain and climbing excursions, scenic hikes and various beauty treatments are just a small taste of all the possibilities on offer. Our guests will be spoilt for choice, making this South Tyrolean holiday experience one to remember.

About the region

Enjoy both impressive views of nearby Dolomite peaks as well as a Mediterranean atmosphere. The fertile wine region of Bolzano and Environs extends from Sarntal valley via the state capital Bolzano, to Salorno/Salurn. Located at between 200 and 3,000 m above sea level, possibilities for an active holiday abound throughout the year. Holidays in Bolzano and Environs are a feast for the senses.

In the expansive southern valley, visitors can marvel at vineyards and castles, as well as apple orchards and idyllic villages. Further north, near the state capital, admire traditional mountain farms and craggy Alpine peaks. Outstanding local wines and the mouth-watering flavours and aromas of local specialities, such as asparagus and chestnuts, whet the appetite. Both peace and a flair for the dramatic are on hand in Bolzano and Environs. South Tyrol/Südtirol’s capital is a vibrant city bustling with activity, whilst nearby isolated mountain villages and quiet tributary valleys offer respite. The characteristic sounds of the mingling of Italian and German fill the streets, whilst music, theater and festivals are a feast for the eyes and ears. You’ll be sure to return home with unforgettable memories like swimming in the warm Kalterer See lake, the crisp crunch of snow under your skis, or the silence of relaxing with friends over a glass of wine and enjoying the best food South Tyrol has to offer.
