Hotel description
In Tisana, not far from the centre of the village of Castelrotto, the sun shines on green meadows and on Paalhof – a farm with amazing views of the Seiser Alm plateau and the Dolomites. There is a sunbathing lawn in front of the farm and it is surrounded by fields where sheep graze in summer. Guests can help themselves to the herb and vegetable garden and there are berries and fruit just waiting to be munched on. A fun playground complete with swing and slide lies in wait for children. Herta Pfeifer, her daughter Daniela and son in law Matthäus rent out rooms at Paalhof and take great care of both guests and house. They love the holiday region of the Dolomites and have a few insider tips in store! The place, which is heated by wood chips from their own woodland and uses solar power and environmentally-friendly cleaning agents, is run on a sustainable basis. The holiday flats are tastefully furnished and their peaceful location is conducive to rest and relaxation. A farm holiday on Paalhof farm is sure to be an adventure: animals, seasonal farmwork and products such as jams, juice, apricots, eggs, fresh herbs and vegetables will make sure of that. A great back-to-nature experience!

About the region

Welcome to a landscape of superlatives. A holiday in the Seiser Alm region, featuring the largest high-Alpine pasture in Europe, is a true highlight of any trip to South Tyrol/Südtirol. Enjoy breathtaking views of the South Tyrolean Dolomites, as well as numerous opportunities for adventure.

Thecable car makes exploring the region simple, allowing visitors to easily access the Seiser Alm plateau from Seis/Siusi. With its wide open spaces, Europe’s largest high-Alpine pasture features 365 Alpine farms and huts, and is a paradise for hikers, families with children and holidaymakers looking for action in winter or summertime. Fantastic views of Dolomite peaks abound including Sassolungo, Sassopiatto, Schlern and Rosengarten. Myriad legends, like those concerning King Laurin, are woven into the impressive landscape. On the high plateau and in the communities of Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Seis, Völs/Fiè and Tiers/Tires, experience and feel the farming traditions and the pride of the local people. In fact, even today in the Seiser Alm holiday region there are twice as many farmers as innkeepers. One of the region’s outstanding benefits is its proximity to both the capital city of Bolzano/Bozen, and Brixen/Bressanone. Each are just half an hour’s drive away. The Seiser Alm region offers numerous worthwhile sporting and cultural events year round.
