Hotel description

The Tschötscherhof (750 m elevation) is part of the idyllic landscape surrounding the village of St. Oswald. Here you will find a heartwarming, family-oriented atmosphere. The 8 guest rooms have been decorated with great care to detail (ex. bed frames of pinewood). The everchanging, traditional cuisine distinguishes itself with its quality. Special attention is paid to the selection of fresh and sustainable ingredients, many of which come from our own farm (beef, potatoes, vegetables, aromatic herbs, etc.). A special experience is to sip wine from our own vineyard in the 300-year-old ‘Bauernstube’ (farmer’s parlor). Another event not to be missed, and one cherished by local residents, is the “Törggelezeit” in the fall. Step into the past: at our farming museum you will find testaments to the hard work as well as the life and beliefs of the land folk of the past. For our small guests the playground and farm animals (horses, cows, rabbits, cats, and pet pig “Molly”) are a big attraction. The farmstead and guesthouse are perfectly situated to undertake simple or more challenging hikes (the gondola to the Seiser Alm takes just a few minutes to reach with the free shuttle bus), but cities, villages, and castles are also within reach.

About the region

Welcome to a landscape of superlatives. A holiday in the Seiser Alm region, featuring the largest high-Alpine pasture in Europe, is a true highlight of any trip to South Tyrol/Südtirol. Enjoy breathtaking views of the South Tyrolean Dolomites, as well as numerous opportunities for adventure.

Thecable car makes exploring the region simple, allowing visitors to easily access the Seiser Alm plateau from Seis/Siusi. With its wide open spaces, Europe’s largest high-Alpine pasture features 365 Alpine farms and huts, and is a paradise for hikers, families with children and holidaymakers looking for action in winter or summertime. Fantastic views of Dolomite peaks abound including Sassolungo, Sassopiatto, Schlern and Rosengarten. Myriad legends, like those concerning King Laurin, are woven into the impressive landscape. On the high plateau and in the communities of Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Seis, Völs/Fiè and Tiers/Tires, experience and feel the farming traditions and the pride of the local people. In fact, even today in the Seiser Alm holiday region there are twice as many farmers as innkeepers. One of the region’s outstanding benefits is its proximity to both the capital city of Bolzano/Bozen, and Brixen/Bressanone. Each are just half an hour’s drive away. The Seiser Alm region offers numerous worthwhile sporting and cultural events year round.
