At the Sun Ranch, the Sonnenhof in Pichl, kids enjoy their first riding adventure in a fun and safe way. During guided rides on a lead rope, they ride through meadows and forests accompanied by experienced instructors. A wonderful way to build confidence and connect with horses. Only for children, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Advance booking required.

Our horses, properly trained, are reliable animals. They are given loving care and sympathy as a reward for their gentle behaviour. We can offer rides through landscapes rich in legends on strong horses, expressive, sweet and safe.

The Haflingerhof is one of the highest-altitude farmsteads in South Tyrol, and welcomes guests throughout the year. It offers chiefly horseback rides to refreshment stations, meadows, and mountain summits. But even inexperienced horseback riders can learn the basics.
The farmstead is approx. 8 km from Sarnthein / Sarentino Village, at an altitude of 1,600 meters above sea-level, with a magnificent view.
Our riding stable Badia is set in the heart of the Dolomites and welcomes you to Alta Badia.
You will feel among friends, that the horses are safe and well cared-for, and that you can progress at your own pace.
Evelyn and Davide offer lessons for adults and children in our stable or having nice trips on the numerous paths of our valley for experts only. The riding stable is open all year round.
You can also reach us with your own horse. We will offer you shelter and fodder.
Start is in San Genesio, up to the highplateau Salten till the parking area "Schermoss". Follow the trail nr. 6, pass the mountain restaurant "Gschnofer Stall" and turn back to San Genesio, by following trail nr. E5.

Wherever you look in San Genesio/Jenesien, you cannot avoid noticing the Haflinger, a robust, undemanding and foot-sure variety of mountain horse. Once a workhorse for farmers, today it is considered a charming, versatile leisure horse, well-siuted to beginners and expert riders, adults and children alike.
Horse-drawn carriage adventure rides through the snowy woods in the Resia Pass holiday area, are not only a romantic experience for lovers, but can also be great fun for families and children. While children experience the sense of adventure, adults can admire the splendor of the unspoilt landscape.
A unique, untouched nature embraces the guests of this house at the entrance to Fischleintal at Sesto. The atmosphere is friendly and familiar, here are families with children feel right at home. The picturesque mountain scenery with the majestic Three Peaks provides summer and winter for relaxation and wellbeing. The location is quiet, but nevertheless traffic-favorable.
In the summer in the beautiful Fischleintal a coach service at scheduled times from Dolomitenhof to Talschlusshütte - no reservation needed.We, the family Tschurtschenthaler offer from June to September guided rides from one to two hours on Noriker horses, and programs for adults and children, beginners and advanced.
In winter, the club offers an experience for young and old of a very special kind: sleigh rides with the beautiful horses in a cozy wooden sleds for maximum 2 persons. Directly from the stables then it comes in a beautiful winter landscape to Talschlusshütte where can strengthen at a comfortable rest horses and sledders. Overall, a sleigh ride takes about 2 hours.
At the beginning of the forest of Monticolo, there is a signpost that indicates the horse riding association “Überetscher Reitverein”. This is where you can find more than 60 mews for horses, that are treated and cared for in a species-appropriate manner. For adults and children the riding club offers the possibility to get in direct contact with the horses. Horse riding lessons and longer rides can be booked, as the surroundings are perfect to be discovered on the horseback.

The trail starts in San Genesio and goes on above the Salto, until the parking space Schermoos and the mountain hut Lanzenschuster. Just follow the trail n° 5 to the Jenesiener Jöchl and n° 23 till the Men of Stone.

In the land of the Haflingers
South Tyrol is the home of the gentle-natured and sturdy Haflinger horses, which are bred all over the world. Just like everywhere else in the country, there are excellent horseback riding opportunities in and around Lana, offering Haflingers and other breeds. Carriage rides across the town of Lana for the whole family are offered once a week during July and August.
Lana Equestrian Park and the Merano Riding Club
If you would like to get a closer look at the Haflingers, you might want to book a trial riding lesson. Many stables also offer guided tours on horseback or pony treks, as well as individual or group riding lessons. The Lana Equestrian Park offers a wide spectrum of services for accomplished riders and breeders, including livery, while the Meran Riding Club lets you discover the diversity of breeds and disciplines at their extensive riding facilities.
If you are more interested in horse racing and athletics, the Merano race track is the place to be.
Racing season at Maia Bassa
The Merano race track in Maia Bassa is the main meeting point for Haflinger fans every year, when the traditional Haflinger race is held on Easter Monday. At other times, the track hosts racing events with noble thoroughbreds from around the world. During the entire racing season from spring until autumn, fans can watch top sporting events with professional jockeys. The season highlight each year is the high-stakes 5000 m steeplechase event, the 'Meran-Forst Grand Prix', held in late September.
The Minert Riding Stable - Horse Love at First Sight
We’ve been in operation since the summer of 2022 and offer a wide range of activities for all horse lovers, whatever the season.
Enthusiasm for horses often starts at a very early age, so we give our youngest guests, from around 2 years old, the chance to have their first playful contact with horses. They get to groom and look after our ponies and horses in a safe environment and let them experience their first guided pony rides and attempts at riding. Pony time for the little ones can also take place in the company of their parents or in groups. Besides riding, there’s plenty of cuddling, playing, and child-friendly learning about horses with lots of fun, games and exercise.
Of course we also offer riding lessons for teenagers and adults (individually and in small groups), as well as unforgettable trailrides (for advanced riders) in beautiful natural surroundings, up to the Alpe di Siusi or Seceda. Whether training or relaxation, there is something for everyone!
Our balanced and well-trained westernhorses offer so much more than just riding. From vaulting to playful, therapeutic riding for children and young people with special needs and disabilities (including mobility impaired children) to ground work and horsemanship courses, horse-themed birthday parties, pony walks, professional photo shoots, colt starting and horse boarding (holidays with your own horse), there is something for everyone.
We take great pride in our approach to horse keeping, focused first and foremost on the well-being of our four-legged friends (Haflinger, American Quarter Horses, Appaloosa and Shetland ponies). To us, mindfulness, respect, and appreciation are simply a very important part of the horse world.
Our facility (an official ENGEA member) is only a 5-minute walk from the centre of Ortisei and has a 25x50m riding arena with a wonderful view of the Sella Massif, a round pen, bright 3.5x3m stalls, as well as spacious paddocks.
