It is a popular hiking destination, a pleasant viewpoint, and an important base for mountaineers climbing the Ortler North Face. From our sunny terrace you can enjoy the beautiful view to the impressive Ortler North Face, the Tabaretta fixed rope route, the Sasvenna Alps and the Ötztaler Alps. The lakes of Reschen and St. Valentin seem to be in reaching distance. Open from early June to mid-October.

The refuge Roda di Vaèl is located on the saddle of the Ciampaz, at a high of 2283 meters and in the middle of the Catinaccio. Regarding the refuges is this one of the points of reference of this famous mountain group. At the time, when it was enlarged and renovated, was the dining room dedicated to one of the most capable alpinists of the alpine history of the Dolomites: Marino Stenico. Even nowadays are Marino Stenico's climb routes very selective. The refuge is in possession of the SAT (Association of the regional Alpini ) and is run by Roberta Silva, who is always at your disposal to give you some advice for your excursion to one of the exciting metallic fixed rope trails of the " Roda di Vaèl " or " Majarè " or to one of the many beautiful alpine tours. We are opened in summer, from June to October. The refuge offers a restaurant, bar, 50 beds, a large terrace and solarium.

The Oberetteshütte is located at 2,670m in alpine terrain at the foot of the Weißkugel, at the head of the valley from the mountaineering village of Matsch. The Saldur lakes, a magical lake plateau, are not far from the Oberetteshütte. Sheep graze around the hut, marmots whistle, there is a small climbing garden near the hut. The mighty Matscher Ferner is also within easy reach. Peace and nature are the hallmarks of the hut. The innkeepers cook down-to-earth dishes with good, seasonal and above all regional produce. The farmers of the Matschertal and Vinschgau valley supply the Oberetteshütte with their products, almost all in organic quality. Open: from mid-June to the end of September
