Chestnut festival in Völlan (Keschtnriggl)

Traditional folk music, chestnut market, rural dishes and chestnut specialities await visitors in the village centre of Völlan. Visit to the Völlan Farmers' Museum with traditional baking demonstrations and a presentation of local crafts. The Keschtnriggl chestnut festival

Keschtnriggl - Chestnut days. The Chestnut Weeks and the Törggelen in Merano and Environs have been a South Tyrolean Tradition for years. Chestnut days in Tesimo/Tisens - Prissiano/Prissian, Foiana/Völlan and Lana gets ist Name from the "Keschtnriggl" - a hand-braided basket for Peeling roast chestnuts. For three weeks, a colourful Event Programme is put on for visitors: Chestnut walks, torchlight processions from castle to castle and the "Keschtnfestl" feast in Foiana, with Music, farmers market, chestnut delicates and traditional crafts. The aromatic fruit with ist spiky Shell, grows particularly well in Merano and Environs, and during this green Event has pride of place in the specialities of traditional inns and prestigious Restaurants, as well as in exquisite chestnut products such as sweet chestnut hearts, aromatic chestnut beer, hearty chestnut stollen, tasty chestnut spraed, luxuriant chestnut cake, fluffy chestnut bread, the excellent chestnut panettone as well as the noble chestnut praline.

Guided "Törggele"-hike: discovering an ancient South Tyrolean tradition

ONLY IN GERMAN! From the beginning of October, at the end of the grape harvest, until the beginning of the pre-Christmas season is "Törggelezeit". After leisurely walks through the golden autumn landscape, guests and South Tyroleans enjoy the products of the harvest, especially chestnuts and new wine (Sußer). On this week's hike we visit the Florerhof farm. We take the bus from the village centre of Schenna to Verdins and hike via the Wieser Steig up to the Schenner Waalweg until we reach the Florerhof farm and after a cosy stop for refreshments we walk back down to St. Georgen. From the starting point you are free to decide whether to return on foot or by bus. Of course, a Törggelemenü and hearty music are not to be missed! From the centre of Barbiano/Eisacktal we hike in the direction of the ‘Trimm Dich Weg’, past the sports zone to ‘Bad Dreikirchen’, with its three unique chapels built next to each other. We walk along the easy forest path to the ‘Briol’ inn and on to the upper (45 m high) and lower waterfall (85 m high), the highest point of the hike. Now it's downhill and back to the starting point. Sheep shearing is the very first step in the journey "from sheep to sweater" – a traditional craft that requires skill and experience. At the MuseumPasseier, professional sheep shearer Albert will demonstrate how sheep are sheared, while Annelies shares fascinating facts and stories about sheep and their role in local culture. The tour continues at Spinnradl, a local business where regional sheep's wool has been processed into unique knitted jackets since 1948. Owner Franz will guide you through the workshops, giving you an up-close look at the entire process – from washing the wool, carding, spinning, and knitting, all the way to sewing the finished garments. To round off the experience, you'll get hands-on and creative during a felting workshop – an authentic craft adventure for all ages! New Wines with Old Roots “New Val Venosta wines” as fine-structured mountain wines from Colsano. Thomas Plack was precisely nineteen years old when he took over the estate in Colsano at the foot of Monte Mezzodì in the Val Venosta in 1989. Today, in addition to five hectares of fruit orchards, he also manages three hectares of vineyards upon which, as Plack himself says, “new Val Venosta wines” are created. Every Wednesday weekly market in Malles

Mals/Malles, Vinschgau/Val Venosta

Every Wednesday between 8.30 am to 12.30 am, the pedestrian zone and Peter-Glückh-Platz in Malles/Mals bustle with activity. Fresh local produce, such as fruit, berries and vegetables, cheeses, bacon and bread types, jam, vinegar, juices and herbal teas, are always available for sale at the market. There are also craft and handicraft products made of stone, wood or felt for sale, as well as textiles, leather goods, plants, and equipment of all kinds for house and garden. From June to September, the market is held together with the farmers' market in the pedestrian zone, where producers from the area offer bacon and cheese, fruit and vegetables. The surrounding guesthouses and restaurants offer special dishes to the respective market focus.

Immerse yourself in one of the most beautiful hikes in the Seiser Alm Dolomites Region. This tour offers breathtaking views, alpine charm, and authentic South Tyrolean flair - perfect for anyone wanting to experience the Dolomites at their best. Tour Description: We take bus line 176 from Tiers to Ums. Starting in Ums, we follow trail no. 4, which leads us through an enchanting forest and across the Schlernbach stream. The ascent is steep, but together we’ll make it—and the view from Tschafonleger and the Tschafon Hut at 1,728 meters rewards our effort. We’ll take a short detour to the Völseggspitze before returning via trail no. 4A. The descent leads past the picturesque Wuhnleger to Weißlahnbad, where we’ll end the hike together.
