Events featuring South Tyrol’s quality products

Still vibrant to this day, South Tyrol developed its own particular baking tradition centuries ago. Living conditions at the high mountain farms and influences from both the south and the north helped shape the famed Schüttelbrot crispbread as well as breads such as the Pusterer Breatln and the Vinschger Paarl. Each valley in South Tyrol has its own special types of bread.

Dairy products also play an important role and in South Tyrol nearly 370 million litres of milk are produced every year. This accounts for 3.4 percent of Italy’s overall milk volume! It’s all made possible by the 5,000 or so farmers whose hard work and passion shape the cultivated landscape with its farms and livestock. Naturally, South Tyrolean livestock is also extremely fruitful: 1,200 tonnes of strawberries, 70 tonnes of raspberries and 90 tonnes of cherries are harvested by hand across an approx. 200 hectares production area.

These and other quality products can be (re)discovered and sampled annually at events such as the Bread and Strudel Market in Brixen/Bressanone, the famous Speck Festival in the Villnöss valley, the Harvest Festival in Bolzano/Bozen, or directly from the local establishments themselves during "Open House Days"
