HolidayCheck Award 2010: 11 of 99 awarded hotels worldwide are in South Tyrol/Südtirol! The world's favourite 99 hotels are chosen for the HolidayCheck-Award on the basis of a formula comparing the number of assessments, recommendations by patrons and the "Suns" assigned in the individual categories.
Among the 11 winners from Italy 11 are in South Tyrol: the Nature Spa Resort Hotel Quelle in the Val Casies/Gsies valley, the Berghotel & Residence Tirol at Sesto/Sexten, the Berghotel Zirm at Valdaora/Olang, the Dolce Vita Hotel Jagdhof in Laces/Latsch in the Val Venosta/Vinschgau valley, the Hotel Andreus Golf & Spa Resort and the Panoramahotel Wildschütz at San Leonardo in Passiria/St. Leonhard in Passeier, Hotel Tratterhof in Maransa/Meransen near the town of Bressanone/Brixen, Hotel Ritterhof at Siusi allo Sciliar/Seis am Schlern, Hotel Lindenhof and Hotel Feldhof both in Naturno/Naturns as well as the Hotel Mühlbacherhof in Lagundo/Algund near Merano.
The impressive Five Star Hotel Gardena or Grödnerhof in the Val Gardena valley features in trivago.co.uk's list of Europe's most popular winter sport hotels. Located in the heart of the Dolomites, it boasts a 1,300 square metre spa complex and a Michelin star restaurant.
Travellers' Choice also singles out other hotels in the Val Gardena for praise, for example the Five Star Hotel Adler Dolomiti , situated likewise in Ortisei, is described by one contributor as the place for "perfect relaxation" and it is included in the list of the world's 2010 Top Ten 10 Relaxation/Spa Hotels. Hotel Erica in Tirolo above the town of Merano is one of the top hotels in Italy.
