A comfortable train travel to South Tyrol

The EC trains of the Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) will take you directly from Munich to Bolzano/Bozen, Brixen/Bressanone or Franzensfeste/Fortezza several times a day and in less than four hours. Thanks to Munich's connections to numerous long-distance routes, it is easy to travel to the city from all corners of Germany.

The new high-speed Berlin-Munich route is a case in point: the ICE Sprinter covers the distance from Berlin to the Bavarian capital in about 4.5 hours.

Travelling by train saves on more than just stress: After all, the  Sparpreis  or Super Sparpreis Europa tickets from the Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) will transport you, e.g., from Munich to Bolzano.

Discover South Tyrol with the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) . The ÖBB/DB Eurocity trains will transport you from Kufstein via Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass directly to Franzensfeste/Fortezza, Brixen/Bressanone, and to Bolzano/Bozen (South Tyrol's capital city).

Innsbruck's main railway station (a transport hub for local and long-distance transport) also provides access to South Tyrol from the west and east of Austria. 
The combination of ÖBB Railjet and Eurocity makes it possible to travel to Vienna, for example. Keen on a bit more comfort? Take advantage of the Railjet from Vienna via St. Pölten, Linz, Salzburg and Innsbruck directly to South Tyrol. The ÖBB express train departs Vienna daily at 3:30 pm and arrives in Bolzano at 10:15 pm. There are daily return journeys from Bolzano every morning at 7:45 am.

When booking well in advance, you can travel to South Tyrol even more economically with the ÖBB Sparschiene tickets .

Travel comfortably from Switzerland with the Railjet Express & Eurocity lines via Innsbruck and the Brenner Pass. From Zurich, Basel or Geneva,  SBB trains run several times a day.

Alternatively, enjoy the journey through the Swiss National Park and the picturesque Val Müstair valley. The journey starts in Landquart with the Rhaetian Railway to Zernez, and then continues with the PostBus to Mals/Malles in the Vinschgau valley. From Mals, take the Vinschgerbahn train to Meran/Merano and environs or continue via regional trains to all other towns in South Tyrol.

Arrive rested and relaxed in South Tyrol with the Urlaubs-Express.  Board in Hamburg, Hanover, Düsseldorf or Cologne in the evening and start your holiday in Bolzano/Bozen in the very next morning. From May to October, the comfortable sleeper and couchette cars of the Holiday Express arrive in South Tyrol's capital city.

Alternatively, take the ÖBB Nightjet train from Hamburg, Cologne or Düsseldorf via Innsbruck to South Tyrol. Board the sleeper car in the evening, travel to Innsbruck, take a connecting train to South Tyrol in the morning, and arrive well rested. This way you can arrive safely overnight and enjoy an aperitif and lunch in South Tyrol the following day.

DB, ÖBB, SBB and Trenitalia trains boast particularly favourable offers for train travel with children.

The number of children travelling must, however, be entered on the ticket of the accompanying parents or grandparents. Therefore, when booking, specify the children travelling with you.

When using public transport in South Tyrol, children under 6 years of age travel free of charge, while young guests under 14 years of age are entitled to discounted junior fares.

Your bike can be taken on several long-distance trains from Germany, Austria and Switzerland . Some trains offer additional bike parking in a luggage/bike compartment. To transport your bike, a reservation is absolutely necessary.

You can store your luggage or bicycles for a few hours or even several days at the Basecamp Dolomites at the Bolzano/Bozen railway station. 

Once you arrive at the railway station, there are multiple transfer providers in South Tyrol that will take you straight to your accommodation and, at the end of your stay, back to the station.

"Südtirol Transfer" is an area-wide shuttle bus service that will take you from the railway station to your accommodation. Depending on your preference, you are welcome to book group or individual transfers conveniently online.

In addition, Südtirol Bus offers a railway station transfer service to your booked accommodation and back. All railway stations along the Brenner line are served hourly. In addition, the stations in Landeck, Innsbruck, Munich and Garmisch are also served several times a day. Collective transfers can be booked online . Bookings will be accepted until 1:00 pm the day before.
