Speck Festival

Speck Festival

In addition to its breathtaking Dolomite scenery the idyllic Funes/Vilnöss valley, birth place of the world-famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner, also features prominently among events showcasing South Tyrol`s much sought-after gastronomic specialty, Speck.

Like in previous years a gian surprise will be unveiled accompanied by a festive fusillade. In addition to highlighting Südtiroler Speck PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) the festival is celebrating with plenty of entertainment, traditional South Tyrolean music and a farmers' market with bread baking demonstrations. The “Speck Queen” will also be chosen on the Sunday. Attractions at previous years' “Speck-Fest” included the longest Speck table measuring 533 metres.
