Speck Festival
In addition to its breathtaking Dolomite scenery the idyllic Funes/Vilnöss valley, birth place of the world-famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner, also features prominently among events showcasing South Tyrol`s much sought-after gastronomic specialty, Speck.
Like in previous years a gian surprise will be unveiled accompanied by a festive fusillade. In addition to highlighting Südtiroler Speck PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) the festival is celebrating with plenty of entertainment, traditional South Tyrolean music and a farmers' market with bread baking demonstrations. The “Speck Queen” will also be chosen on the Sunday. Attractions at previous years' “Speck-Fest” included the longest Speck table measuring 533 metres.

Travel directions & special travel recommendations
By car:
Travelling from the south along the Brenner (toll) motorway, exit at Chiusa/Klausen and take the main road northwards for approx. 6 km as far as the turning for Val di Funes/Villnösser Tal;
Travelling from the north along the Brenner (toll) motorway, exit at Bressanone/Brixen south (Sud) and continue along the main road southwards for approx 4 km as far as the turning for the Val di Funes/Villnösser Tal.
By public transport:
Intercity trains stop at Bressanone/Brixen and ?Regionale? trains also stop at Chiusa/Klausen. There are public bus services from both stations.
