Valli di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal
This dual valley on the southern side of the Zillertal Alps is characterised by a super abundance of water, over 80 peaks exceeding 3,000 metres (9,850 feet) and the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina/Rieserferner-Ahrn nature reserve.
The people here still work the austere high mountain lterrain and are rooted in their rural traditions. Over centuries their toil has shaped the landscape. Exploring the high mountain terrain here is arduous but rewarding, a leisurely foray likewise. The area is especially tranquil in winter remote from the high-lying ski resorts. Other romantic refuges from the crowds include the Selva dei Molini/Mühlwald Valley and Riva di Tures/Rein in Taufers.
