Allergy-free holidays in South Tyrol

Spring allergies are on the increase, especially among children. South Tyrol offers a peerless cure: speleotherapy, utilising the air in ancient mine galleries dug deep into the mountains.

It is also known as underground climatotherapy, halotherapy or radon therapy, a treatment for respiratory diseases utilizing the pure pollen- and allergen-free air in the bowels of the high mountains, provided above all by the Climatic Centre at Predoi/Prettau in the Aurina/Ahrntal valley, unique in Italy.

The Respiration Health Hotels all situated  in the secluded Valli di Tures e Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal holiday area have an agreement with the Predoi Climatic Centre and have been certified by the regional government department for the environment. According to scientific studies, the Respiration Health Hotels' high Alpine locations (between 1,000 and 1,500 metres - 3,280 to 4,921 ft) are completely free of mites and moulds, with a far lower pollen countcompared with thecentral valleys.

Another way to escape pollen and allergens is to take a spring holiday at high altitude staying at an allergy sufferer friendly farm belonging to the Red Rooster association. There health considerations are of prime importance and the high mountain climate ensures an allergy-free time, savouring locally-grown health foods and cuisine based on natural farm-produced ingredients.
